Getting Involved
A keyword that represents the philosophy of  the JALT Nagoya Chapter is "involvement."  It can be deep and consistent or as your schedule dictates. Because the chapter offers flexible arrangements, many opportunities exist for you.

That which interests you represents a starting point. Possibly one way to identify this interest, if you have not, is think back to activities in the past that you have done for other organizations.  What did you enjoy most?  What activity does this chapter offer--or could offer--that most relates to this interest? The information below provides more specific information. If you wish to read the theory that underpins our volunteerism, click here. If you wish to follow up, please do not hesitate to contact an officer.

Assist a JALT Nagoya Officers
One way to volunteer is to assist an officer. That is already happening. For example, rather than just a treasurer--as in the past--we have an assistant treasurer too because Mathew White expressesd an interest in activities relating to finance. Moreover, he is assisting the co-program chairs as a program committee member. Here, the chapter offered to be flexible, and he expressed the interest.  In this way, volunteer activity expands.

Create a Project
You may wish to create or assist in a project unrelated to the activities of any one officer. It can relate to enhancing instruction or the quality of life of teachers in the Nagoya area.  For instance, the forming of an Internet committee could relate to both.

Engage in Intra-JALT Communications
Other chapters and special interest groups have ideas, skills, and experience that is transferrable to this chapter if you have an interest. For example, some chapters sponsor bookfairs and do very well. The chapter could facilitate communications between you and those with the appropriate knowledge. Please contact an officer and express your interest.

Engage in Inter-JALT Communications
This chapter is open to more communications with other organizations, especially associations. Thus, for instance, if you are a member of another association, you may wish to act as a liaison.
